Effective audit starts with the right auditor. That is why we hire only highly qualified professionals to conduct an IATA Certification audit. IATA auditors are subject matter experts from all around the world with at least ten years of experience in their respective fields. Our pool of auditors speaks English, French, Spanish and Mandarin. 

They perform hundreds of audits every year across aviation sectors, working with service providers at every stage of the supply chain to comply with a host of regulations and standards and to achieve best practices and continuous improvement. 

Become an auditor

We seek highly experienced auditors and aviation subject matter experts. After undergoing rigorous assessment and auditing techniques training, you will be contracted on a project basis, for assignments that range from short to long-term, in various regions around the globe.

We offer certification auditing in 10 aviation areas. Please refer to the certification programs below. 

Your responsibilities as an IATA auditor

The role of the auditor is foremost to carry out an IATA audit, assessment, and inspection for a specific certification, following the audit methods and procedures defined in the relevant certification program manual.  

The Auditor is primarily responsible for:

  • Developing the audit plan including proper management of all phases of the audit.
  • Conducting the audits in a consistent manner, adhering to the audit guidelines and using the forms, templates and software provided. 
  • Conducting follow-up activities, closing findings and quality control. 
  • Delivering the audit report within the required period. 
  • Achieving a high customer satisfaction rate on the auditor performance.
  • Adhering to the contracted terms and conditions and ensure compliance with IATA policies and requirements as defined in this manual and respective agreements. 
  • Ensuring that there is no conflict of interest or breach of confidentiality requirements. 

General requirements

We would love to hear from you if you have:

Education:

  • Post-compulsory secondary education diploma
  • Auditor training course certificate in auditing techniques by a recognized organization

Experience:

  • 10+ years of professional experience with proven success in the air transport sector (more than 12 months in the previous 60 months)
  • 2+ years of auditing experience as an auditor in the air transport sector (conducted as an Auditor at least five audits; and at least one audit in the previous 12 months)

Management Skills:

  • Ethical conduct, objectivity, fairness, and impartiality in applying professional judgement
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, ability to collaborate in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a strong focus on quality and an eye for detail
  • Outstanding client focus, precision, and time management

Communication Skills

  • Strong communication skills and exceptional work ethic
  • Excellent stakeholder management with ability to collaborate in a multi-cultural environment

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially in the use of PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Audits delivery through virtual platforms such MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc, is an asset

Language Skills:

  • English: ICAO Level 5 (Extended) in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Language other than english: ICAO Level 4 (Operational) in English and ICAO Level 5 (Extended) in the language of audit delivery 

Certification programs

CEIV Pharma

  • 5 years experience in the transport and handling of time and temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and healthcare products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Temperature Control Regulations (TCR), and the European Commission guidelines on Good Distribution Practices (GDP) of medicinal products for human use, and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).

CEIV Fresh

  • 5 years experience in the transport and handling of perishable products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Perishable Cargo Regulations (PCR), and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system.

CEIV Live Animals

  • 5 years’ experience in the transport and handling of live animals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR)

CEIV Lithium Batteries

  • 5 years’ experience in the transport and handling of lithium batteries products  
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (LAR), and the IATA Lithium Batteries Shipping Regulations (LBSR) and ICAO Technical Instructions For the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods

Smart Facility Operational Capacity

  • 5 years’ experience in the management of air cargo terminal operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Cargo Handling Manual (ICHM) and the Smart Facility Standards Manual (SFSM).

Baggage Tracking

  • 5 years’ experience in the management of baggage operations and passenger handling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Resolution 753, the Baggage Reference Manual (BRM) and the IATA Baggage Tracking Implementation Guide.

Security Management Systems (SeMS)

  • 5 years’ experience in the management, development, administration, and maintenance of security management systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Security Management Systems (SeMS) manual and the ICAO, EASA and ECAC security management system requirements.

CBTA Center

  • 5 years’ experience in the development, implementation and management of safety and dangerous goods training program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR), and the IATA Dangerous Goods Training Guidance, and the competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) framework.

Training Validation

  • 5 years’ experience in the development, implementation and management of cargo and ground operation training programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Chapter 11 of the IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM) and IATA Cargo Handling Manual (ICHM)

IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA)

  • Master's degree in environmental management or policy-related
  • 5 years’ experience in environmental management system
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental management systems, ISO 50001 Energy management systems, and ISO 46001 Water efficiency management system.

Specific course requirements:

  • Achieved an ISO14001 auditor certification (or similar) in the last five years.
  • Successfully completion of the IATA Aviation Lead Auditor Training in the last two years.
  • Successfully completion, with distinction, the IEnvA assessor training.
