Passenger satisfaction is paramount in the aviation industry. To meet the increasing expectations of passengers, we need to enhance the travel experience. One way of doing this is to improve operational efficiency by embracing modernization and technology. As we know, technology evolves at a very rapid rate, which can make it difficult to keep up. Keeping pace and being aware are important, however it is more important to put a strong emphasis on well-defined, industry-wide, accepted standards to guide and implement these technology developments. The industry stakeholders of the IATA baggage working group are developing the standardization and harmonization of baggage processes to ensure our passengers’ expectations in terms of efficiency and punctuality are met, and even exceeded.
